Lewis Foods Pty Ltd is a third-generation, Australian family-owned business operating in South Australia since 1946. Founded by Harry Peters, Lewis Foods carries on the legacy of George Lewis Ltd, established circa 1928, where Harry gained his expertise as a confectioner. The Lewis name became well known across Adelaide, South Australia, from the mid-1940s; specialising in the manufacturing of marshmallow, kokettes, chocolate-coated cream and fruit centres, jellies, and the classic Milk Rock.
Under Harry’s guidance, the company developed a unique range of confectionery using concentrated fruit juice in place of sugar. This innovation resulted in products with distinctive flavour, texture, and mouthfeel - a range that continues to be enjoyed across Australia today.
In the early 1980s, the company diversified its operations and began producing high-quality treats for the health food market. The acquisition of SA Chocolate Makers followed, bringing the manufacture of carob, yoghurt, and chocolate in-house. This not only offered greater flexibility but also enabled the development of varieties rarely seen at the time - including no added sugar, fructose-sweetened, and soya-based options. Today, we offer one of the widest ranges of confectionery buttons and products available from any Australian manufacturer.
The company is now proudly run Harry's grandson, Justin, alongside his business partners, Bruno and Christopher.
